The boys in Reception are fortunate to have a specialist Art Teacher, Mrs Woodage, to teach them once a week in our specialist Art Room in the Highbury building.
Mrs Woodage explains,
"The boys are introduced to new practical skills and build upon techniques
they have learnt, focusing on colour and colour mixing, and using a variety of
media to express their ideas."
Art falls under the "Expressive Arts and Design (EAD)" section of the Early Years' curriculum; EAD is then split in to two sub-sections, "Exploring and using media and materials" and "Being Imaginative".
The boys' art lessons focus on skills and techniques, whilst encouraging their imagination as well! Time in the boys' classrooms and within our outdoor environment also fosters good imagination and new ideas, that can be explored during free-choice activity time.
Music also falls under the "EAD" umbrella, as does "Pyjama Drama".... more of which soon....
