New Year Six teacher
The woman charged with taking Altrincham Preparatory School's pupils through
their vital examinations is looking forward to the challenge of a new life
in England.
Lindsay McKenna was born, brought up and educated in Scotland, and has been
teaching north of the Border for the last 10 years.
Now Lindsay has been appointed as APS's new Year Six teacher, working alongside
experienced Year Six specialist David Aden, as the boys prepare for a series
of state and independent secondary school examinations.
Lindsay was brought up on the south-side of Glasgow and attended the University of Paisley, gaining a Ist Class Honours in her Bachelor of Education degree before working in Clackmannanshire and Livingstone. Currently a Principle Teacher on a secondment to take forward the Scottish Government’s proposals for the new ‘Curriculum of Excellence’, Lindsay said: "The Scottish education system is a source of national pride and I hope to bring the same attention to detail and dedication to this key job in the independent sector south of the border. From what I have already seen the standards are very high and boys rightly aspire to realise their full
potential."
She added: "I want more for the boys than successful examination results, I
want them to cherish their citizenship so they can become effective and
responsible leaders of society in the future. I also want them to develop a 'can do' attitude and provide them with life long learning experiences."
APS Headmaster Andrew Potts said: "I am delighted that Lindsay has accepted
our invitation to join us. We were spoilt for choice though there was no
question that Lindsay was the leading candidate for her qualities, expertise
and experience dovetail with our ambitions and aspirations. There are
exciting times ahead for APS and Lindsay will be a key player in our
developments." |
