The Year 3 boys were lucky enough to enjoy a whole day of Ancient Egyptian activities on Wednesday. The school hall at Marlborough Road was transformed into part of Ancient Egypt. The boys were all able to take part in five different actiities all relating to our current Ancient Egypt History topic. The boys worked extremely well in their groups, carrying out tasks which the Ancient Egyptians would have been engaged in 3000 years ago. These inlcuded transporting two tonne blocks using ropes and sledges, carving hieroglyphics in stone, making papyrus and mummifying a body. The culmination of the day was building a pyramid to scale. The pyramid, the boys all helped to construct, was 4 metres high and included a secret passageway. All the boys had the opportuity to go inside the pyramid and one boy was briefly 'entombed'! The blocks we carved spell out our school name in hieroglyphics. All the boys thoroughly enjoyed the day and worked well in their teams, learning a lot of interesting facts about the Ancient Egyptians. It was pleasing to see how much knowledge the boys already had about Ancient Egypt and they were keen to share this. A big thank you to Charlie and well done to all boys for working hard.
