Last week the Junior boys enjoyed a week of cross-curricular lessons and activities with the French theme, "La Mer". In geography, the boys practised their atlas skills and looked at the French region of Brittany. The French theme popped up in maths and even in Y4 English homework. Y5 boys discussed steroptypes using the cartoon stories of Asterix The Gaul as their starting point. Year 6 boys made board games for the Y3 boys, using the vocabulary they have recently been learning. The boys had fun playing parachute games in French with Mrs Hammond. In art with Mrs Woodage, all the boys had the opportunity to produce work on a French sea theme. In their music lessons with Mr Vowles, the boys worked on an arrangement of a French children's song "Les Petits Poissons" to perform to parents. The week culminated in a "Tricolore" blue, white and red own clothes day. Parents were invited to a French cafe, where the Senior choir performed the Charles Trenet song,"La Mer" and all boys sang their "Les Petits Poissons" song, with Tomas and Danny accompanying on the trumpet and flute. Almost 300 croissants were eaten by boys and parents! In the words of one of the boys during the cafe, "C'est supercool!"
