Year 5 Court Case - Who was to blame for the disaster of the Titanic?

Year 5 have been learning to write persuasive arguments in English.  To link this with our history topic, the Titanic, the boys were asked to research who was to blame for the disaster and produce a piece of writing which would convince someone that their suspect was the most at fault.  To air these theories accordingly, the boys took part in a trial to see which team had made the most convincing argument.  The boys were given the role of prosecution, defense council, defendant, jury or court reporter and Mr Whittaker presided over the proceedings as judge. The boys all contributed to a successful trial and chose to attribute the blame of the disaster to Thomas Andrews who was the ship’s designer.  Great job Year 5!
