Year 6 have been learning vital life saving first aid skills through training by the St. John Ambulance service.
As research has shown that almost 70% of children do not know what to do if someone they knew was hurt, we were eager to ensure our boys were empowered with the skills to help others and potentially save a life.
The boys were taught how to conduct a primary survey of a situation, communication and casualty care, DRSABC, the recovery position, handling nose bleeds, fainting and how to deal with severe cuts. A hands on approach saw the boys acting out scenarios and testing their bandaging skills.
It was a fun session which developed life long skills.
