My Favourite Moment at A.P.S.

One of my fondest memories of my time at A.P.S is most definitely the Year 6
France trip.
In France, at the chateau, we did lots and lots of jaw-dropping activities like rock-
climbing, fencing, canoeing.....to name a few. But by far the highlight for me was
the assault course – which is every young boys dream! It was shed-loads of fun get-
ting caked from head to in gloopy mud.
Canoeing was also great - my favourite part of this activity was getting to jump in to the crocodile in-
fested pond, splashing like a huge bomb!!
Feeding and stroking the adorable little animals in the mini-farm and getting to taste some home-made
cider was a break from the jam-packed, fast paced activity sessions.
In the evenings we were given freetime in around the grounds of the chateau – the thing I remember
best from our free time was when we were playing football – even the teachers were playing! – and Mr
Lingley tried to show off with an over head kick then realised he couldn’t do one any more!!! We all

My favourite sporting moment at APS was playing in the England Hockey Nationals Finals. We had to
travel to London to play at Wellington College.
We reached the hockey finals by coming third in the Midlands North West group. Only the top three teams
in the group went through to the finals – I was absolutely delighted that we had qualified. The other
teams who were through with us were Stamford and Bilton Grange.
In the third and fourth place play-off at the Regionals we beat Repton Junior School 1 – 0; that took
place at Repton School near Derby. I was so proud of the team – what a victory for APS!
120
schools had entered the whole hockey tournament but because we use one of the best aqua turf
pitches in the whole country, at Bowdon Hockey Club, we were able to practise lots and become good
