YEAR 2
Football Tournament at Premiership Training Ground
Late September kicked off with Year 2 competing in a tournament at Manchester City’s Training Ground. This
was an opportunity for the boys to further develop their skills by playing against other schools. Some matches
were won and some were lost but both Mr Birch and Mr Lingley were delighted with how well the boys did both
on and off the pitch! The Year 2 boys were excellent sportsmen and made sure they shook hands with every
member of each of the opposing teams. Thanks to the many parents who supported so enthusiastically from the
sidelines.
A start such as this suggests a magnificent year
ahead once again. Well done to one and all!
Pirate Invasion – arrr!
Every member of the Year 2 crew worked extremely
hard in their Pirate English lessons. Not only did
they learn a ‘ship load’ of historical facts through
comprehension writing but they also learned how to
follow instructions to make their own Pirate Grog
and Hardtack Biscuits. They wrote the most fantas-
tic character descriptions of Captain Abdul, bursting
