YEAR 4
Hold the Front Page!
In English lessons over the last few weeks the Year 4 boys have been learning about newspaper articles (how to recog-
nise the way they are written, what features they share and how to write in the same style). We were lucky enough to
be visited by Andrew Swiss, a BBC journalist, who told us something about what it was like to do the job of a profes-
sional journalist. The boys were inspired to come up with their own (very inventive) imaginary stories and also created
some articles related to our recent, very successful, Harvest Assembly. Fleet Street here we come!
All to the Hall!
As part of our History topic on the Tudors this term Year 4 visited Ordsall Hall in Salford.
This Grade 1 listed building still contains elements dating back to medieval times and is
steeped in over 800 years of local history. The boys met with Tudor characters and
learned about life in the period as well as being shown around the hall and some of its
interesting features.
Welcome to Year 4!
At the start of the half term with the boys new to the year they were given the
opportunity to write something about themselves that they were happy to share
with their new teachers and others. It was surprising what kind of things the boys
thought was important to include about themselves, and parents I am afraid, didn’t
always get a look in!
