Rainbow day raises money for Francis House

APS turned all the colours of the rainbow on a special fundraising day for the children's hospice Francis House. Boys in the APS Infant Department donned multi-coloured outfits, made and ate colourful fruit kebabs and were even able to jump in some special colourful puddles as they completed their own investigations of all the colours of the rainbow.

Francis House volunteer Chris Keegan told the children that the Hospice on Parrswood Road, Didsbury is currently caring for 240 families, who have children with life limiting illnesses both providing respite care for the mums and dads as well as front line care for the children. The Hospice needs over £2 million each year to continue its good work and he told the children, "It is only with the help of community workers like yourself that we continue to help all these local families." APS Curriculum Leader for Key Stage 1 Jan Bacon said: "Francis House is a wonderful local charity and has long been one of APS's nominated charities. The boys get a real sense of satisfaction from helping children of their own age."
