Year 1's George makes his own charity marathon - May 2011
George (right) is in Year 1 at APS. Last year whilst watching Children in Need he commented that he would like to do something for other children.
At Christmas, like many other 5 year olds, George was given a new bike and decided that a good challenge would be to ride from his home in Appleton to school before his 6th birthday. That's almost 12 miles!
With the help of his mum, dad and younger brother, George gradually extended his rides in preparation for his big challenge. Still inspired by Children in Need, he also started to collect sponsorship money to help other children.
Over the Easter weekend, George set off. We're delighted to report that he cycled the 11.77 miles in 3 hours (including lunch), and collected over £300 for charity. Well done George!
