Harvest Festival Celebrated at APS - Oct 2011
Giant pumpkins grown by green-fingered parents at Altrincham Preparatory School were among the wonderful bounty at the top independent's school's annual harvest festival.
Speaking to a packed Main Hall at the school on Marlborough Road, Reverend Roger Preece the Vicar of Bowdon urged the youngest generation to remember the tremendous team effort that goes to into putting the daily pint of milk on the breakfast table.
Reverend Preece said: "Harvest is a reminder of the importance of the land and of the challenges of farming in our country. We need to remember even the effort that goes to put a pint of milk on our breakfast table.
"Harvest also reminds of Jesus' teaching to be contented with what we have received and also of the need to be generous. He was always using farming stories as he taught about the importance of hearing the message of faith like a seed and letting it take root in us. "
Altrincham Preparatory School Headmaster Andrew Potts said: ""Our Harvest celebration is a chance for our school community to come together, giving us the opportunity to remember those less fortunate than ourselves"
After the Festival the goods were taken to the Wood Street Mission in Manchester.
