APS Society
The APS Parents’ Society is set up and run by parents. Its two main purposes are to organise an annual calendar of social events for both children and parents and to raise valuable funds for both the school and external charities.
In the 2008/09 year - with the goodwill and help of everyone involved – we raised over £17,500. Already this money has provided interactive whiteboards, outdoor play equipment, South American musical instruments, music stands, science materials and additional reading books.
We have also subsidised a range of workshops and parties for the boys and provided sewing machines for the art-room, display boards and much needed ice lollies for sports day! Money has also been donated to Macmillan Cancer Care and Red Nose, and toys and books given to Woodstreet Mission and Oxfam.
The Society has committed £10,000 to partfund a new minibus for the school and we hope to see our boys travel in comfort and style this Autumn.
2008/2009 events and fundraisers included:
Fashion Show
MacMillan coffee Morning
Northbrook Wrapping Paper
Christmas Fair
APS Spring Ball
Gourmet Fundraiser at Earle
Fashion Show
Summer Fair
Walk to School Week (Oct & May)
Halloween Disco
2nd Hand Uniform Sales
The Giving Machine (see below)
Name it Labels (see below)
As a Society, we have also teamed up with a number of third parties to help raise further funds. These include www.TheGivingMachine.co.uk – a non-profit making organisation which generates free cash for the school every time you shop online. Each of the more than 100 online shops – including high street names such as Amazon, ebay and M&S - makes a donation on your behalf.
Similarly, any parents looking for name labels for school uniform can raise funds for the Society by ordering these from www.nameitlables.co.uk. Simply select Altrincham Prep School as you proceed through Checkout.
It would not be possible to achieve all this without the continued support of everyone involved but we are always looking to welcome new parents who feel they can contribute in any way, however big or small.
Should you wish to contact any members of the Society please contact the school office on 0161 928 3366.
