Blood Swept Lands and Seas of Red

Reginald 'Norman' Trafford who fought and lost his life in the Great War, aged just 19 was the great, great Uncle of William (Y4). William's Grandmother came in to school and spent time with our Y4 boys talking about the diaries Norman had kept both before the war, aged 15 and during 1918 when he was on active service in France. After his death, Norman's family received a small bag from the British Red Cross which contained his diaries and other personal effects.

She also shared information about Norman's life with all of the Junior boys telling them of the visit 3 generations of her family made to Norman's grave in a cemetary in Northern France during the Summer.
