Local Author Visits Year 5 & 6

We were delighted to welcome local author Jo Welch to Altrincham Preparatory School today. As well as sharing her love of writing, Jo engaged the Year 5 and 6 boys in the wonders of Einstein, story writing and code cracking.

Her first book, The Einstein Code, is a fast-paced children’s thriller, is about Ben, 13, searching the Manchester area for his kidnapped mum, helped (and sometime hindered) by his cousins, Jess and Freddie. There are codes to crack, mysteries to solve and science to grapple with, whilst the dangers mount, especially after investigating his mum’s workplace.

In her second book of the trilogy, The Darwin Code, Jo uses her love of science and puzzles to help her characters solve two mysteries whilst also delivering an interesting and understandable insight into human genetics.

The boys were given the opportunity to share their favourite books with Jo as well as having their copies of The Einstein Code  and The Darwin Code,  personalised and signed by Jo.

Here are just a few photographs of the workshop sessions.
