Year 2 listen to a soldier’s diary from the WW1 trenches

In connection with their topic this half term, Year 2 enjoyed a fascinating visit today from William's grandmother who talked to the boys about their relative Reginald Norman Trafford who served as a soldier in World War One.

The boys heard very moving extracts from his diary written from his time at the front, as well as his earlier school reports which built up a picture of the boy who went to war.

Unfortunately Reginald died in hospital, having been injured during the conflict, and the boys were shown the plaque which was sent to his family, as well as pictures of his grave in France.  Thank you very much to Mrs Evans for such a detailed and thought-provoking talk.
