Year 4 visit to St Mary’s Church

As part of our local History/Geography/RE work this term the Year 4 boys were invited by Rev. Myles to have a look around the local parish church, with which the school is lucky enough to have such a close relationship.

While Rev. Myles talked about the religious importance of the church within the community and gave the boys some insight into the records which the church has kept Mr Sheppeck and Miss Weisberg delved into the long history of religious sites in Bowdon (going back some 1300 years to Anglo-Saxon times).

Using such resources as this, which we have on our doorstep, is a fantastic way to show the boys just how much history there is around them and links in with the research we asked them to do recently on the history of the local area and the work we will be doing in school over this term.

Future visits are also planned to the local synagogue and mosque, which will hopefully widen the understanding of the boys even further.
