Year 6’s Batiks reach crucial stages…

Designing, waxing, dying, ironing, sewing... making a batik cushion has been intriguing and enthralling Year 6 boys in Miss Woodage's art class for a number of weeks now. And they're now at a crucial stage, with the boys putting the finishing touches to their work over the next few weeks. Including, now, sewing around the edge of their designs. "I'd never sewn anything before," admitted George. "But I really liked learning how to do it, and then using that on my design."

"They've all worked really hard, and I've been really impressed with how easily they've taken to each step of what can be quite a complicated process with lots of different skills to learn," said Miss Woodage. "I think we're all looking forward to seeing the finished products."

Make sure you check back in a few weeks' time, when we'll show you how the batik cushions turned out...
