Year 5
Mathematics
English
The boys in year 5 have worked so hard this term and they were rewarded with a visit to Altrincham
Cinema. They watched Paddington Bear and enjoyed every minute especially with the challenge of
spotting the original author Michael Bond somewhere in the film.
We continued the Paddington theme with lots of work, ranging from film reviews to comprehensions,
culminating in the boys writing some fabulous new versions of the story.
Mrs Blower’s original Paddington with the boys!
Along with enjoying access to the computerised
mathematics software ‘Mathletics’ this term, allowing
the boys to test their knowledge against each other,
the computer or even pupils from around the world,
Year 5 have also undertaken a weekly times table
challenge.
We would like to congratulate Yesh, Kieran, Michael,
Ted and Ben, on achieving Olympic standard. They
all completed 100 correct multiplication and division
sums in 3 minutes, this is no mean feat. Well done
boys. We hope that we will have some more boys
achieving Olympic tables standard in the Spring term!
Religious Education
In RE we have been learning about various faiths.
The staff and boys would like to thank both Mrs Hindle
and Mrs Chohan for giving up their time to come in and
talk to the boys about their religions. The boys found
these extremely interesting and informative with lots of
questions being asked and discussions generated.
