More bad weather during the second half of the autumn
term could not prevent us from ensuring that every boy
in Years 2,3,4,5 and 6 (that’s 226 boys) has played for
the school at football and most of them have been of-
fered the chance to run for the school at cross country.
The Year 5 and 6 boys played quite a lot of football and
produced some great performances. Two Year 4 teams
beat Ladybarn House School on their own astro-turf and
all the boys in Year 3 enjoyed winning five out of six
games against Stockport Grammar School, despite the
dreadful weather. We also took a Year 3 team to Pownall
Hall to play a Year 4 team and won convincingly.
The Year 5 and 6 rugby teams found out the importance
of practice as they played their first matches having not
really seen much of a rugby ball! In their second match,
the Year 5 team recorded a good win against Merchant
Taylors School Crosby.
We have managed more Hockey practices this half term
and the results were evident when we played Cheadle
Hulme school, winning 3-1 in the A team and drawing 0-
0 in the B game. Unfortunately the games against Kings
Chester were frozen off but there are certainly signs of
promise for next term.
The Year 4-6 swimming teams went to Merchant Taylors,
where we enjoyed some really competitive races. Last
but definitely not least the cross country runners did ex-
tremely well in all their races. We finished 2
nd
in the Al-
trincham Schools League and Harry (5J) won the individ-
ual silver trophy and on the long distance race around
the Stoneyhurst College Golf Course. A.P.S. were beaten
only by Giggleswick School at the North West Independ-
ent Schools Championships.
