MUSIC
What a creative term !
Years 3, 4, 5 & 6 have been developing their composi-
tion skills, which have lead to public performances
and recordings. 3 Year 6 boys, Ben L, Tom and Ben A
created a very polished percussion piece which tanta-
lised everyone at the music concert in Novem-
ber. Well done boys!
The orchestra has grown in numbers this year, and per-
formed a selection of film music by John Williams. Year 2
came to listen, and were introduced to the many different
instruments available at Marlborough Road. Harry (Y6)
played the moving violin solo in “Schindler’s List” after which
we were taken to a different galaxy with “Star Wars”. An
excellent term’s work.
All of the Infants and Pre-School have worked hard
on their Christmas play “The Christmas Wish” and
gave 3 magical performances to packed audiences.
Special mention must be made to Jamie (2W) who
sang so well as the main character, Frankie. He must
have been born to be on stage! The play also fea-
tured; a
torch
light performance by Year 1,
“appearances” of Bob the Builder and Jamie Oliver,
aka Charlie (2HS) and Lucas (2W), us all shaking in
our shoes at the disciplinarian Uncle Jasper, played
by Theo (2HS), and a lovely performance of the
Nativity story by Reception and Pre-School . A truly
memorable performance. Wow!
The Senior Choir travelled to Manchester Cathedral to sing
with 9 other schools, and what a performance they gave.
Their actions and clear words woke everyone up in the
Cathedral as they sung “Let’s Celebrate Christmas”. The
year 5 members of the Choir and Recorder Club went carol
singing at “Sunrise” in Hale Barns, and had all the residents
singing along and playing instruments. A very happy
occasion.
And finally the term finished with the annual Carol
Service, this year at St Mary’s, Bowdon. We all left,
well and truly in the Christmas spirit, with many
memories of an enjoyable term of music making.
