YEAR 2
Diwali and Chanukah
The Year 2 boys had a great after-
noon in early November when
Dr Sarpal and Mrs Sakhi came into
school to tell them the story of Rama
and Sita and the origins of Diwali.
The boys learned all about the Hindu
festival of light and had lots of fun
making Diwas.
In December they also found out
about the Jewish festival of light,
Chanukah, and enjoyed watching the
lighting of the candles and listening
to the blessing in Hebrew with
Mrs Stewart.
World War memorials
and brass rubbings
As part of our History topic on the World Wars, we visited St. Mary’s Bowdon where the boys
heard about the impact of the wars on the local families through looking at the war memorials
and talking with the Reverend Myles Owen.
The boys all enjoyed brass rubbing and were fascinated at the discovery that they could transfer
the details from the brass onto their paper with a simple wax crayon!
Many thanks to the parents who supported us on the trip.
