World War 1
As part of our History
topic on the First
World War, we were
delighted that William’s
G r a n d m o t h e r ,
Mrs Evans made time
to come to talk to us
about her late Uncle,
Reg i na l d No rman
Trafford and the
artefacts she has from
when he served in the
war at the age of
nineteen. The boys
were able to look at
his diary and hear
readings from it, as
well as see the
belongings that were
sent back to his family
after the war, including
his silver cigarette case
and pocket sized bible.
The boys thoroughly
enjoyed the talk and
realised the impor-
tance of keeping and
caring for historical
artefacts.
Thank you Mrs Evans!
Peter Pan
The boys enjoyed a
fantastic trip to The
Octagon Theatre in Bolton
in November to watch
Peter Pan.
The boys, teachers and
parents who came on the
day said it was a fantastic
show – the best one in
years!
Peter, Tinkerbell, Wendy
and The Lost Boys were
all super – as were the ice
creams during the inter-
val!
We had a lot of fun
w r i t i ng a bou t t he
characters afterwards and
thinking of ‘wow’ words to
d e s c r i b e t h e m .
O u r f a v o u r i t e . . .
‘Tremendously terrifying’
Captain Hook!
Many thanks to the par-
ents who joined us for the
show.
Mrs Evans and William proudly display the
family tree and photograph of Reginald Nor-
man Trafford who served (and died) in
World War 1.
Christmas is here... almost!
And what a lot of fun we’ve been having!
Christmas cards, calendars, sewing stock-
ings and for the first time ever, linked to
our Science topic on Materials, making
Christmas cakes. The boys have weighed
and measured the ingredients, stirred in
their Christmas wishes, then baked and
decorated their individual cakes.
They’ve even made their own cake box to
safely transport it home, for you to enjoy!
Delicious!
Many thanks to the parents who helped
with all of our Christmas activities.
Merry Christmas from Year 2
