ALTRINCHAM PREPARATORY SCHOOL
April 2014
Given the very late Easter date this year, we have in effect completed the lion’s share of this academic year at the closing of
our spring term. The summer term will present a considerable challenge to us in order to fit all the various activities that
traditionally accompany this time as the weather, hopefully, improves.
I am delighted that the Open Morning allowed so many of you to have an insight to the school in action.
Having Bank Place open, though not finished, has allowed you to see our vision for an Early Years’ Centre of Excellence fast
becoming a reality. Again, the lion’s share of the work has been accomplished and I look forward to the pre-school moving
into a purpose built accommodation over the May half-term break. The Bank Place development is not to be seen in isola-
tion as the expansion to our physical space allows the school to pursue long held ambitions for both Marlborough Road and
Highbury. Plans are afoot for a proper music room, library and science laboratory at Marlborough Road and a complete ICT
suite, library and art room at Highbury.
I take this opportunity to thank our wonderful APS Parents’ Society, to which you are all members. Recently, a most
(competitive?) enjoyable and successful Quiz Night was held which swelled the coffers by £850. The winning team, ‘Vegas
Baby’, composed of year 6 Parents, is pictured. Well done!
Summer Term events, for your diary, include the Barbecue and Disco on Friday 16 May and the Summer Fair on Sunday 15
June. Further details will follow after the holidays.
I hope that you enjoy a lovely Easter break.
