He Bangs the Drum
If you have ever had to shout to your son to
‘Keep that racket down!’ then spare a thought
for we poor teachers who had to put up with a
session of African drumming with the boys
earlier in the term.
40 boys, all banging away at the same time
caused a deal of earache!
Seriously, the experience was a fantastic one for
the boys and many thanks go to Mrs Kayayan
for organising it.
Whales
Earlier this term we took the subject of whales as a
topic for some of our work in English.
Having shared some literature involving these
fascinating creatures (factual, fictional and poetic)
we created some of own whale poems.
We also spent an interesting morning where Mrs.
Jones led the boys through a movement workshop
thinking about how whales travel through the water.
The boys got physical in the Hall and produced
some exceptional work from musical stimulae.
Mad Science
Teachers and students from King’s Macclesfield
School came into school earlier this term and
introduced the Year 4 boys to some of the Science
work they do there.
The experiments covered aspects of Chemistry and
Physics and were fun and educational.
Poetry
Taking as our inspiration the poem ‘You!’ the boys
produced some great insult poems of their own.
They then turned the tables and created a ‘Me!’
poem describing themselves in terms as glowing
as they could imagine.
Do you recognise either?
