La Presse Scolaire - April 2014 - page 13

This term we have studied Rainforests, with
a particular focus on the Amazon Rainforest.
We have learned all about the ecosystem,
climate, flora and fauna, deforestation and
the impact the rainforests have of the entire
world.
It was fascinating to discover the number of
items in our homes that originated from the
rainforests.
Curling
Through Mrs McKenna’s enthusiasm for
curling during the Sochi Winter Olympic
Games, 6M became hooked on sup-
porting Team GB, watching it every
playtime. We learned about the skills and tactics needed to
win games at this standard. We now wanted to try it for our-
selves!
We were delighted, and very fortunate, that Mrs McKenna
managed to organise a Come and Try session for us. We can
report it is not as easy as it looks! But loved it!
Personal Training
To support Sports Relief
we came to school
dressed in our favourite
sports kit.
We were put through
our paces by PTs in a
fun-filled session test-
ing our agility and team
work skills.
Maths
We have been investigating strategies
and developing our problem solving
skills through a wide variety of prob-
lems set by Miss Portman and Mrs
McKenna.
