This term has been a busy, active one with boys in year 3
working hard whilst having fun. In their science work we
began with investigating light and shadows and when we
had a sunny afternoon, the boys went outside to draw
round their shadows and then repeat this at different times
of the day. They were fascinated to discover how their
shadows changed in size and direction.
In the very last half term, our Science topic was Helping Plants Grow and we certainly had our
work cut out with the recent hot weather. We began by planting grass seed to cultivate our very
own grass heads. Mrs Jones sewed on eyes which helped to make every grass head take on its
own personality. After a few weeks the grass heads had grown very long, thick ‘hair’ which was in
need of a trim. We took them home and were inspired to write and produce some ‘Grass Head’
stories and cartoon strips.
In ICT we have learnt to animate “sprites” using Scratch. We worked hard and were able to create
all sorts of special effects.
