Poetry in Motion!
Poetry has played a large part in our English studies recently and amongst the work that the boys did on
Kennings and other poetic styles, we looked at using alliteration in our poetry writing.
We took the poem
‘Nature’s Numbers’
by John Cotton as our inspiration and attempted to carry on the
poem from where he had left off, incorporating the same technique he had.
The range of animals we managed to include in our poems and the alliterative features we gave them were
amazing and they came out pleasingly well and in a manner I am sure that John Cotton himself would have
been proud of!
The Comic Strip Presents...
Having studied a traditional African folk tale
(
Crocodile’s Treason
) the boys in Year 4 attempted to
retell the story in a different medium.
With comics and their spin-offs being so popular at
this moment in time we thought we would attempt to
turn the story into a one. We considered the key im-
ages from the story that we would need to include,
assessed how we could incorporate speech into our
retelling and contemplated what additional informa-
tion the reader would need in order to be able to fol-
low the story as told be the pictures we drew.
The boys really enjoyed it and put a lot of effort into
producing some fantastic work to display.
