YEAR 5
Welcome to the Spring instalment of the Year 5 newsletter. Over the last few months the boys have been
working very hard in the build up to the Summer Term and preparation for September’s entrance exams.
We have fused this hard work with theatre visits, guests in school, quizzes, competitions and Times Tables
Olympic Challenges...Enjoy our news!
The boys went to The Lowry Theatre
to see Shakespeare 4 Kids’ production
Of “The Tempest”. It was a fantastic
play. The boys really enjoyed it and
the wrote scripts for their favourite
scene. They then performed their ver-
sion of the scene in the hall. They
were excellent. Each performance was
filmed and will appear on the end of
year DVD.

performances before they take to the stage.
We held a 500 words writing
competition running in line with the
BBC’s competition. Boys brought their
stories into school as well as entering
them on the BBC’s website. We read
through all the fabulous entries and
came up with two runners up and one
winner from each class.
It was a very difficult process but the
decisions were made. The four run-
ners up were:
James, Joshua, Henry and James.
The two winners were....
Oliver and Oliver!
It seems 2103 is the literary year of
the OLIVERS! Well done!
