The NW Independent Schools' FA U11, 7-a-side football tournament took place at Bolton Academy on Thursday 28 February. All independent schools in the NW of England were invited to play.
APS were in group B which included King's Chester, Bolton School, St Mary's College and St Bedes. The first match we played against St Mary's, winning 2-0 and this boosted our spirits as we dominated them throughout the game. In the second game we faced King's Chester who were a strong side. It was a tight game which ended 0-0. Next we were up against Bolton who had hopes of winning. Unfortunately, we lost 2-0 but we kept our heads up. The final group game was against St Bedes and if we lost this we were going home. We played well and won 1-0 meaning that we were through to the next round, easily beating Manchester Grammar School 1-0. In the semi-final we played Cheadle Hulme School, with Harry scoring the only goal.
We were up against Bolton in the final which was a very close game, played in their half a lot of the match. They just got two lucky breaks and took both chances, giving the final score of 2-0.
We were all very happy with our runners up position and proud of what we achieved.
