Choosing the right school for your son is one of the most important decisions you will make as a parent, and we're here to guide you every step of the way.

At Altrincham Preparatory School, boys enjoy a seamless educational journey from Little APS through to Year 6. With almost 90 years of experience educating boys, we provide an inspiring environment where every child is known, nurtured and encouraged to achieve his full potential.

Joining Little APS

The main entry points into APS are through Little APS, our bespoke Early Years learning journey for boys aged 2 and above and Reception (4+ on 1 September).

Upon receipt of your completed Registration Form and £60 Registration Fee, your son's name will be added to our prospective entrants list. Approximately 9–12 months before entry (or sooner where places are available), we'll invite you to meet our Headmaster and enjoy a personal tour of the school.

Entry into Other Year Groups

Vacancies regularly arise throughout the school.

Boys joining Years 1–6 are invited to attend a taster morning or afternoon, which includes an age-appropriate assessment. Following a successful visit, a formal offer will be made, subject to receipt of a school reference and payment of the £500 refundable deposit.

Why Remain at APS to Year 6?

Remaining at APS from age 2 to Year 6 provides continuity, stability and outstanding preparation for leading grammar and independent senior schools. Boys benefit from specialist teaching, exceptional pastoral care, strong leadership opportunities and the confidence that comes from being part of a close-knit school community.
