Independent Schools’ Football Association Nationals - 3rd place!

Independent Schools' Football Association Nationals - 3rd place!

The first game in the tournament was against Bedales from Hampshire.  We had a fast start scoring three goals in the first half.  In the second half the opposition came out strong keeping the score 3-0 at the full time whistle.

In our second round of Group A matches we played QEH from Bristol.  We comfortably won the match 2-0 not being troubled.

Going into our third game we were top of Group A.  We faced Claremont Fan Court from Surrey.  In the first half APS dominated but the score remained 0-0.  A free kick in the second half was denied by the woodwork.  Our opposition then struck having a lucky deflection then falling to their player who scored.  The final result was 0-1.

Our fourth game was played against Bishopsgate from Surrey.  Another game in which we dominated, but it ended in defeat from a free kick.  The final score was 1-0.

Into our last group game, we needed a win over Cumnor House.  We went 1-0 up with a nice finish, but then we conceded a free kick which was taken by their best player which he scored from.  We fought back and won the game 2-1.

We went through into the quarter finals as best third place team.  In our next match we faced new Beacon from Kent.  Comfortably we won 1-0 and were now into the semi-finals.

We played Whitgift who beat us in the semi-finals last year,  but were looking for revenge.  Having a slow start we conceded two goals, but we fought back scoring before half time.  Despite dominating the second half we didn't manage to convert.

In the third and fourth play-off we faced Foremarke Hall from Derbyshire.  We created a lot of chances but didn't take them.  The final score was 0-0.  Both teams agreed not to proceed with a penalty shoot-out but to share third place to round off the tournament.
