This week Year 4 were invited to visit the local mosque in Altrincham, as part of their studies into religion in the local area. Mrs Saigol, the mother of an ex-APS boy, spoke to them about many different aspects of Islam and the boys were given the opportunity to practice writing in Arabic script. The ladies at the mosque were very impressed at the knowledge that the boys already had as well as by their good manners and behaviour. Prior to the visit the boys had coloured in some traditional Islamic geometric patterns and ther was a prize given for the best one (won by Daniyal in 4S).
The boys were fascinated by some of the things they found out and it was a very valuable learning experience for them. They came away enthused by what they had done and keen and eager to learn more.
And the cakes certainly went down well!
