Year 2 enjoyed a very informative trip to Bowdon Synagogue today as part of our RE work on Judaism. The boys sat in both the men's and the women's seats (many of them thought the view was better from upstairs in the women's seats!), wore kipot (skull caps), and tried on the prayer shawl.
They were shown inside the Ark and saw a Torah Scroll, written in Hebrew without vowels, using vegetable ink.The writing was so small we thought it would be very hard to read.
The boys also explored the kitchens and were astonished to learn that in the Jewish religion they would have to wait three hours to have a glass of milk or a piece of chocolate after eating a meal containing meat!
All of the boys learned a great deal and had a super trip.
