On Monday 17th November the boys of 4S visited Weaver Hall Museum in Northwich. The building itself has lots of history (having been used as a workhouse throughout the 19th century), however we were to there to experience some traditional storytelling first hand from 2 professional storytellers. Legends and folk tales from the local area and further afield were recounted in traditional style to the boys (some well known and some more obscure).
The boys then had the opportunity to work in groups and use both the stories they had been told and items from the museum's collection as inspiration for their own folk tales and legends; which they performed in front of each other at the culmination of the day.
A thoroughly enjoyable and valuable learning experience for all the boys, and one which will continue to inspire their written work in school.
