2S at Delamere Forest

Year 2 went on an exciting adventure to Delamere Forest this week, learning outdoor survival skills such as making fire and using tools to create a marshmallow stick. Boys used loppers to cut down branches from a hazel tree and then cut the branches to lengths as long as their arm. Using potato peelers, the boys whittled the end of their sticks to a point in order to skewer the marshmallows for toasting over the campfire. They were delicious! We explored the beautiful forest, searching for deciduous and non-decidious trees and naming the berries, plants and animals we spotted on the way. We even learned about different types of fungi! It was the best day ever!
