The current topic in Year 5 is Brazil, and the boys are enjoying learning all about this diverse country. Our initial focus has been its location and we have used a variety of maps to support us with our learning. Brazil is divided into 5 geographical regions, but actually has 6 geographical eco-systems; The Pampas, The Caatinga, The Mata Atlantica, The Tropical Forest, The Pantanal and The Cerrado. Each of them has its own climate, habitat and flaura and fauna. To illustrate this, Year 5 made 3D topographical maps using salt dough to show the elevation of the land. We also used our Non-Chronological Report skills learnt in English to write a short informative paragraph about each eco-system. Stay tuned to see the final product!
